Kitty was put through her paces when she attended a Mencap meeting in Burnley to take part in a Question and Answers Session.
The group had been learning about parliament and the role of an MP and took the opportunity to ask Kitty about her job and to question her about how she could help them get better services, such as more equipped day centres, more staff and more assistance in finding jobs and voluntary work.
The session was organised by the Sharon Lees the East Lancashire Service Users Network Facilitator.
Sharon said:
“The group had worked really hard on the questions they wanted to ask Kitty and were very pleased to be able to ask her in person about her job, whether she liked working for Gordon Brown, how she got into politics and how she could help the group get better services. Everybody had a great time and the group will hopefully be making a trip to the Houses of Parliament in the near future”.

“I’m really pleased that I had the chance to attend the meeting, the group had some really good questions for me and I was very impressed by the work they’d been doing to get better services and support each other.
It’s fantastic that such a group exists – it means that people with learning disabilities in Burnley and the surrounding areas have a way to share ideas, meet new people and to work together to make sure that there voices are heard and that they receive the best possible services.”
