Kitty Ussher MP welcomes 'Hope Not Hate' battle bus
Kitty Ussher MP welcomed the Daily Mirror’s Hope Not Hate battle bus on Monday as it drove into Stoops Estate.
The bus stopped off in Burnley on it’s way to Glasgow after setting off from London on March 23rd, on its tour of the country, the bus has so far been joined by celebrities such as The Sugababes, Corrine Bailey Rae, Shilpa Shetty, Sir Alan Sugar, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, and stars of The Bill.
The bus received a warm welcome in Burnley, at Stoops & Hargher Clough community centre, where local residents had organised free food, face painting for children, and a cricket match between young people from Stoops and Daneshouse & Stoneyholme. In return the bus gave out free t-shirts and balloons to those that turned out to meet it.
Nick Lowles from Searchlight, who organised the bus said;
“We’ll be recognising our diversity, but also those shared values that bring us together – tolerance, freedom, and equality. They are values that make Britain the great country that it is”.
Kitty Ussher MP said;
“I was here during the World Cup, and it’s great to be back again, seeing local residents coming together again to celebrate diversity. It’s really good to see local people joining together and taking a stand against those that wish to divide our communities”.
