KITTY
'S WORKLOAD RISES TO NEW HIGH

The number of issues being raised with Kitty Ussher, local MP, has increased it was revealed today, following the release of her third quarterly constituency casework figures.

Kitty has helped around 520 people with a wide variety of problems since July, which is a 33% increase on the last quarter and represents an average of 43 constituents every week. The number of issues raised regarding anti social behaviour has more than doubled this quarter and, along with health and refuse, now tops her third quarterly casework ‘league table’.

Since July Kitty has seen 100 constituents at the regular surgeries she holds across the Borough with other cases picked up on the doorstep or by letter, email, on line and telephone calls direct to her Burnley office.

Kitty said:

“Helping people who have a problem or issue is a key part of my job and one I take very seriously. Before I was elected I promised to be an accessible MP who would try and sort out people’s problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. Now every quarter I’ll also let people know how I’m doing.

"Keeping a record of the number & type of cases being dealt with allows me not only to produce this quarterly information but in particular it can act as an early warning that something is wrong if the number of cases involving a specific issue or agency suddenly rises. With regards to the rise in anti social behaviour issues I believe this may be connected to the extended school summer holidays but will monitor the situation closely. The Government has changed the law in recent years in order to crack down on anti social behaviour and are committed to continue taking the issue seriously. In September the Home Office minister, Paul Goggins, visited Burnley to see for himself what works and what doesn’t.

This is the third release this year of these types of figures and I will continue providing this information to the public in this way.”
