KITTY LAUNCHES CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
Kitty Ussher has launched a Christmas card competition for local school children. The competition is being run this year for the first time, and has been organised in conjunction with Burnley Creative Partnerships, a Government body that is funded through the Arts Council.
Children from local schools have been asked to submit a Christmas card design, from which a winning entry will be chosen to be used as Kitty’s annual Christmas card, which will be sent to around 2000 people both locally and nationally, including the Prime Minister, and business leaders.
There will be three age categories; Juniors, aged 7-9, Upper Juniors, aged 9-11, and Seniors, aged 11-13, from each of which 3 winners will be chosen, who will receive prizes donated by local businesses, representatives from which will attend the prize giving ceremony. The overall winner will then have their design featured on the Christmas card. Each child that enters the competition will also receive a certificate.
The competition will be judged by; Dave Edmondson, Chief Executive of Burnley Football Club, Chris Daggart, Chief Executive of Burnley Express, Mrs. Najib, Mayoress of Burnley, and a representative from Creative Partnerships, and prizes will be awarded at Burnley Youth Theatre on Friday 1st December at 6.20pm.
Kitty said;
“I am really excited about this competition, as not only does it encourage children to be creative, and provide an opportunity for local businesses to become more integrated with the local community, but it also allows me to showcase the great talent that we have here in Burnley.”
