Kitty lobbies Health Secretary on Burnley General Hospital

Local Labour MP, Kitty Ussher, today met with Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt to lobby her on the proposed changes to Burnley General Hospital.

Kitty said:
“I told Patricia Hewitt of the severe concerns that we in Burnley have about a specialist emergency department being located in Blackburn. I explained that we are worried about the increased ambulance times to get to Blackburn, and although the managers are saying that health outcomes will improve as a result, this is not what some local ambulance drivers, nurses and paramedics are telling us.

She listened carefully to what I was saying, and urged local people to respond to the consultation so that their voices are heard when the final decision is made by the local health bosses. I too urge everyone who cares about Burnley General to respond to the consultation that is now underway. The best way to do it is to write to the address below, or to me and I will forward it on.
